Empowering Citizen Aid Actors: free training for grassroots organisations

Small, volunteer-led and community-based initiatives are often the first to respond to need in their communities. Many are started by people with little prior experience of the development or humanitarian sectors, and few have had training in how to run an organisation.

Empowering Citizen Aid Actors is COAL’s free online training series for these groups. From September to December 2024, eight sessions on Zoom covered:

1. Corporate governance for nonprofit management
2. Fundamentals of project management
3. Resource mobilisation and fundraising
4. Communications for development practice
5. Financial management for nonprofits
6. Monitoring, evaluation and learning basics
7. Tech on a shoestring: affordable digital solutions for nonprofits
8. Safeguarding and psychosocial wellbeing in development practice

Sessions were led by practitioners from across the development sector.
